Michigan partners with Amazon Prime on documentary of 2017 season

College football fans will be treated with an upcoming experience similar to the NFL's hit series "Hard Knocks," as Michigan announced Tuesday it has partnered with Amazon Prime to produce a documentary of the Wolverines' upcoming season.

The behind-the-scenes look will span Michigan's entire 2017 season and include inside access to team games, practices, and athletic facilities, as well as a personal look into coaches' and players' off-field lives, the school announced in a statement.

Head coach Jim Harbaugh issued his own statement on the development, expressing his sheer excitement at the opportunity.

"We are proud to partner with Amazon Prime Video in documenting our University of Michigan student-athletes' daily experiences and the lifelong lessons learned both on the football field and in the classroom," Harbaugh said. "We welcome judgment. We embrace this opportunity to showcase our 2017 University of Michigan football team to a vast audience around the world."

Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel echoed Harbaugh's sentiments, praising the uniqueness of the exposure the Wolverines will garner as a result of the documentary.

"We think documenting this season will reveal that our university and football program are unique environments that equip our student-athletes for success in both academics and athletics," Manuel said. "We are excited to work with great partners and to break new ground as the first collegiate program to participate in this digital space."

The documentary is set to be released in an eight-episode format in January of 2018.
